What is coaching?

If you have never been coached before your mind may go to football or other sports.

I offer something different…

Coaching is often aligned with training, or mentoring, or maybe even counselling. While it may have aspect of each of those it is its own unique form of personalised training that helps to get you want you want - in particular to this coach, to better your farming style and bring you a healthier work/life balance.

An agricultural coach, or an ag coach, is a professional who offers guidance, and support to farmers in order to help them optimize their agricultural practices. Just like a sports coach helps athletes bring out their best performance, an ag coach helps farmers perform at their best in their agricultural activities.

As a regenerative / restorative ag coach, I work with a specific focus on regenerative agriculture, which is a farming and grazing practice that aims to have greater ROIs by rebuilding soil organic matter and restoring degraded soil biodiversity. The goal is to improve the health of our ecosystems, while also increasing the profitability of farms, and the sustainability of farming long term.

When you engage with me as your ag coach, I can help you in several ways.

  • I can help you adopt the best farming techniques for your farm, that not only increase the yield of your farm but also improve the health of your soil and the overall environmental sustainability of your land. These techniques can include crop rotation, cover cropping, no-till farming, and use of biostimulants, among others.

  • I can help you with mindset changes. Farming is not just a business; it's a way of life. The stresses and pressures of farming can sometimes be overwhelming. I can help you adopt more positive mindsets and coping strategies that not only make you happier but also make you a better farmer.

  • I can help you plan your farming future, in balance with the life you want to have, keeping your values at the forefront.

Be. Do, Have.

  • BE - Understanding the value behind who you want to be, how you want to live your life and where you find your worth is key to successfully aligning your business//farm gaols with your lifestyle.

  • DO - Once we understand who you want to be, we look at what you need to do to achieve that. This aspect focusses on the practices you do on farm and in business, the goals that you set, and the timeframes you give yourself.

  • HAVE - When you understand where/who you want to be, what you need to do to achieve it, you will really see what you want to have. I hear that farmers want more money, more time, healthier land, higher ROI. This can be a good spot to start and work backwards from.

In a nutshell, my role as an ag coach is to help you, the farmer, become more profitable, more sustainable, and happier. I do this by providing you with the strategies, and support that you need to make small but significant changes in your farming practices and in your mindset.
